“”Well, greetings to all our friends and relatives down in Memphis this evening. Friends, we’re over at Evalina’s I am tonight. Of course Miss Sikes is here and the babies are asleep; little Danny and Joyce both are asleep. Bucky’s gone downtown to see about a music job for this week; he and that fine musician that plays with him, Mr Kibbler. Oh he’s a fiddle player from way back. And we’re just kind of taking it easy sitting here. Miss Sikes, she’s very comfortable, and her mouth is fixed just like it usually is [laughter] and I’m just waiting to get into the same thing. So, Evalina how bout you sayin something now to the folks?”

(“Bueno, amigos.

Long: “That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine”.

About the audios, the first audio is impressive, the entire body paralyzed me, I cried when I found it was a thrill. Yet each time I listen to my body goes something I can not explain. For me, the audio with the womans is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever heard in my life.

For a moment think that these women do not exist, there are only their voices. But these voices are more present to me that if he had seen a photograph of their bodies suddenly appear to me on that hot night with the newborn sleeping, speaking through an old carbon microphone next to a small reel recorder opened. I appear in their simple dresses with tiny flowers, appear to me their faces black, shiny and white smiles and wrinkles, appear to me singing, laughing, crying, appear to me and I’m there as enthralled watching them, I’m there , am I there or all those voices are now with me? Disembodied voices are old, from another world without time, no space, no language.

The first audio disc appears ten inch aluminum acetate under the label “Wilcox-Gay recordio Disc”, the title of the A side is “Greetings by Reg, Eva, Mrs. Sikes.” (Greetings to Reg from Eva Sikes) the other side of the disc is scratched and does not play, titled “Jokes, 12/6/49″ (Jokes 12/06/1949).

It was probably a recording, a greeting of some women from Memphis to their husbands who were in the war in Germany. The track begins:

“” Well, greetings to all our friends and relatives down in Memphis this evening. Friends, we’re over at Evalina’s I am tonight. Of course Miss Sikes is here and the babies are asleep, little Danny and Joyce Both are asleep. Bucky’s gone downtown to see about a job for this week music, I And That fine musician that plays With Him, Mr Kibbler. Oh he’s a fiddle player from way back. And we’re just kind of sitting here Taking it easy. Miss Sikes, she’s very comfortable, and her mouth just like it is fixed Usually is [laughter] and I’m just waiting to get Into the Same thing. So, how bout you sayin Evalina something now to the folks? “

(“Well, my friends. Greetings to all our friends and relatives in Memphis tonight, we are with the Evalina tonight. Of course Miss Sikes is here and the babies are asleep; .. Danny and Joyce both are asleep Bucky has gone center to see a musical work for this week … he and the musician who plays with him, Mr. Kibbler Oh, he is a violinist and return. And we’re taking it a bit easier here, here Ms. Sikes, she is comfortable, and his mouth is set like this usually [laughs] and I am waiting to enter the same thing. So, Evalina want to start saying something now for the people? “)

Track ends with the three women singing a cappella a song by Gene Autry and Jimmy Long 1932: “That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine”.

“Shorts for radio” is born in late 2011 with the idea of creating a small fragment virtual radio, a piece of experimental radio and sound bites to collect texts that at some point been transmitted from a media such as radio or television. Through these sound bites seek to recreate a new discourse, a play on words, a transformation of language, a gino between composition and radio-style sound, a sigh radio between a virtual world where radio turmoil mutates and languages and meanings come to different senses.

Radio is a medium that takes the form of what it represents, a voice, a sound behind a black curtain, a solitude in the middle of the night, a gaze without eyes. Something that is beyond our reach, but it’s there. Understand something beyond the language of words, a language that extends through the sounds.

Each program contains a description of the files used, all additional sounds were performed and produced entirely by Sol Rezza.

“All of our senses are a variety of touch. Therefore, since our soul cannot leave our inner self to go and touch the external objects, it needs for this objects to come and touch our soul, passing through our senses.”
